BOARD STATEMENT

Business as usual until October 2026

Following the result of the recent ballot, Stockton Business Improvement District will come to an end when the current term concludes in October 2026.

While this is naturally disappointing for those who have worked hard to support the BID over the years, we fully respect the outcome of the democratic process and thank all businesses that took part in the vote.

The ballot result reflects a challenging environment for many businesses, both locally and nationally. Town centres, businesses, and communities continue to face significant pressures, and we recognise that organisations and individuals must make decisions based on their own circumstances and priorities.

Over the years, the BID has delivered events, marketing campaigns, business support, Safety partnerships , and projects that have helped champion Stockton town centre. More importantly, it has brought together businesses, partners, community organisations, and individuals who care deeply about our town and its future.

We would like to thank our levy payers, Board members, staff, partners, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, and everyone who has supported the BID throughout its journey.

While the BID may be coming to an end, the pride, ambition, and commitment that exists across Stockton remains as strong as ever. The relationships built, ideas shared and partnerships formed over the years will continue to play an important role in shaping the future of our town.

There is still much to be positive about, and we remain proud of what has been achieved together.
